Harris Included In 12-Man Australia Squad For 2nd Test

Melbourne, Dec 30: Swing bowler Ryan Harris was today included in Australia’s 12-man squad for the second cricket Test against India starting on January 3 in Sydney, while the eleven who played in the opening match here retained their places. Pacer Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Daniel Christian were left out from the 13-man squad for the opening Test which Australia won by 122 runs at the MCG. The 32-year-old Harris from New South Wales has picked up 35 wickets from eight Tests at 21.37 average before a hip injury during the Cape Town Test against South Africa last month put him on a rehabilitation programme. “Harris has been included in the eleven that played the first Test in Melbourne. Ryan has had carefully monitored preparation, which has gone to plan,” said national selector John Inverarity. 'Fine or ban Randiv for misconduct'

While the world debates whether Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara had a role to play in his bowler Suraj Randiv bowling a no-ball to deny Virender Sehwag a century, cricket great Sunil Gavaskar has told that either the Sri Lankan team should be fined or Randiv should be banned for his misconduct. Randiv's no-ball delivery had left Virender Sehwag stranded at 99 not out in Dambulla on Monday. Reactions have been pouring in since yesterday. While now-retired spin maestro Murlidharan insists that Sangakkara is too fair a captain to indulge in something like this, Virender Sehwag says it has happened before. Sunil Gavaskar is very clear that, " An apology is fine but if the Sri Lankan Cricket Board want to uphold the spirit of the game, they should take some action against him, may be penalise him by dropping him for the next game or taking away is match fee.. something that sends a signal that cricket is after all a sport." Aussies To Be Without Bollinger, Hussey In Goa ODI

Margao, Oct 21 : Still looking for its first win in the ongoing tour of India, the depleted Australian cricket team today lost two more key players in pacer Doug Bollinger and batsman Mike Hussey for the deciding third and final one-dayer here on Sunday. While Bollinger has been forced out due to a stomach muscle strain, Hussey will have to be available for a Sheffield Shield match for Western Australia as part of the Ashes preparations.Bollinger did not play in Australia's five-wicket loss to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men in Visakhapatnam last night. "Bollinger reported some minor abdomen discomfort in an area unrelated to the original injury that ruled him out of the second Test and second ODI of the tour," Cricket Australia said in a statement.PTI
